Electricity Markets, for who?

Landsvirkjun hosted an open meeting this week titled: Electricity Markets, for who?

Straumlind participated in the panel discussing the wholesale market alongside Landsvirkjun, Orkustofnun, ON and the two energy trading plattforms: Vonarskarð and ELMA.

This was a great opportunity for Straumlind to advocate for its customers: Icelandic households and businesses! The main issues that Embla, Straumlinds COO, pointed out are:

• Electricity Sales Companies that provide households and businesses energy need to have good access to contracts with Landsvirkjun, which produces 70% of all electricity in Iceland

• Straumlind supports market developments and has done trades at Vonarskarð and ELMA

• Predictability about energy supply for households and businesses in necessary and long term agreements have to be available
